Welcome to Lighthouse Park Mobile Home Sales & Park
For many years the property on which Lighthouse Park is situated was owned by the federal government and was part of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse. The second lighthouse keepers house to be constructed was completed in 1881 and still sits on the property. In 1948 the federal government declared the property surplus, and it was eventually sold to Frank Savage who developed Lighthouse Park in 1959. In 1970 Oliver and Rachel Cropper purchased the property and house. The keepers house, being in poor repair, was totally renovated and became the Cropper’s permanent residence.
When the Coast Guard decommissioned the lighthouse in 1981, Oliver Cropper was instrumental in having the ownership of the lighthouse transferred to the State of Delaware and ultimately operated by "The Friends of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse" as a museum. Mr. Cropper was president of this non-profit organization for many years, organizing volunteers to man the museum, and raising funds to maintain this precious historical site.
Oliver and Rachel Cropper continued to operate Lighthouse Park until 1984 when Oliver retired and his son Ross began managing the park. Still owned and operated by the Cropper family, Lighthouse Park has continued in operation for nearly 57 years offering an economical option for you to have "your own place at the beach".
